Meet Your Laser Eye Surgery Team

David Rootman, MD, FRCSC, is the Medical Director and founder of Yonge Eglinton Laser Eye & Cosmetic Centre. As an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto and a board member of the Cornea Society, Dr. Rootman is on staff at University Health Network (formerly Toronto General Hospital) and the Hospital For Sick Children where he's been since 1988. He was the first surgeon in Canada to perform a highly specialized form of corneal transplant called Deep Lamellar Endothelial Keratoplasty and served as the Medical Director of The Eye Bank of Canada for over 12 years.

Allan Slomovic, MA, MD, FRCSC brings over two decades of study and experience to our laser eye surgery practice in Toronto. He completed a fellowship in Ophthalmic Laser Microsurgery at the internationally acclaimed Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. Dr. Slomovic is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto and also serves as Clinical Director of the Cornea Unit at the University Health Network. He has presented at ophthalmology conferences worldwide and is the President of the Canadian Cornea and External Disease Society.

Neera Singal, MD, FRCSC completed her medical and Ophthalmology training at the University of Toronto and was selected to do additional training concentrating on Cornea and Refractive surgery at U of T. She is an enthusiastic teacher and provides teaching sessions to the Ophthalmology resident doctors at the University of Toronto. A gifted surgeon, Dr. Singal has worked with Dr. Rootman and Dr. Slomovic for many years and was a natural choice to round out the laser eye surgery team at our Toronto practice.
